Ludzie z Vełny ( People of Vool)

In 2021, on the initiative of composer and drummer Rafał Gorzycki, the first contemporary music ensemble in Bydgoszcz - Ludzie z Vełny - was established. Its primary purpose is to commission, premiere, perform and promote Polish contemporary music, which the artists forming the group feel is insufficiently supported and presented in our country and abroad.

The ensemble is formed by artists - instrumentalists, composers and sound designers connected with the F. Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, I.J. Paderewski Pomeranian Philharmonic Orchestra, Toruń Symphony Orchestra and Polish Chamber Music Foundation - ART MINTAKA:

Dorota Nowak - soprano

Joanna Czapińska - piano

Mateusz Szwankowski - clarinets (sound design)

Tomasz - Gluska - trumpets

Michał Edgar Kot - viola

Rafał Gorzycki - percussion, electronics (composition)

In autumn 2025, the Art Mintaka Foundation and the band People of Vool  released a new album with graphic scores titled Śmierć Poety (Death of a Poet).

The compositions were commissioned especially for this occasion from five outstanding artists: composers from various academic centres in Poland: Marta Śniady, Aleksander Nowak, Artur Zagajewski, Aleksander Kościów and a member of the Ludzie z Vełny band – Rafał Gorzycki.

Artur Zagajewski – Finstre, schwarze Riesenfalter töteten der Sonne Glanz

Marta Śniady – Brain Activity

Rafał Gorzycki – Śmierć Poety (Death of a Poet)
