Broadcast of Act I of Rafał Gorzycki’s opera LUSTRO on Polish Radio Two’s “Opera Under the Stars”

OPERA POD GWIAZDAMI (Opera Under the Stars) is one of Polish Radio Two’s iconic programmes.

Host Marcin Majchrowski and his guests present major stage works from the Baroque era to the present day. Recently, Ewa Szczecińska featured Olivier Messiaen’s magnificent opera Saint François d’Assise.

On 7 November, the programme, co-hosted by Joanna Grotkowska, will feature Rafał Gorzycki’s opera LUSTRO (Mirror). Alongside a conversation with the composer, listeners will hear a recording of Act I, performed by:

Joanna Freszel, soprano, Dorota Nowak, Paweł Piotrowski, Witold Szulc, the Orchestra of New Music conducted by Szymon Bywalec, and the Chamber Choir of the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, alongside improvising musicians Marek Malinowski on electric guitar, Mikołaj Sarad on saxophones, and the composer on electronics.

The broadcast will also offer a preview of the premiere of the now completed, full version of LUSTRO, featuring Camerata Silesia – The Katowice City Singers’ Ensemble, directed by Anna Szostak.
